A solid marketing strategy involves a lot of different pieces. When it comes to your blog, you’ll also want to be promoting it on your social media. Social media can help you create a bigger following, further establish your brand, and drive people to your blog/products. However, it can be difficult to come up with social media content all the time. That being said, your biggest source of content for your social media pages can be and should be your blog. This means you need to repurpose your blog.
Why you should use your blog
You’re already creating long-form content on your blog. You’re already doing the research, writing out the content, and learning what your audience is interested in. Why reinvent the wheel when you can use everything you’ve already created?
Not to mention, your audience only ever sees a small portion of your content. This means it’s unlikely your Instagram audience will see all of your blog posts or even all of your Instagram posts. So, you can easily repurpose your content multiple times for each of your platforms.
How to repurpose your content
Basically, to repurpose your blog content you need to take your blogs and break them down into smaller pieces that you can share on social media.
As a blogger, you’re probably sharing mostly educational content, but you might also be sharing personal content, such as your two-year-old’s birthday party or your trip to France. Let’s break down how to repurpose both.
Repurposing educational content
There are many different types of educational content. For our purposes, let’s break down the topic “10 Amazing Date Night Ideas.” This is a topic that has multiple subheadings that list out each new date idea and why it’s a good idea. This makes it super easy to repurpose.
You can easily create multiple posts for Instagram highlighting each date idea, why it’s fun, and what type of couple this date night idea is good for. Plus, you can tag specific places in your posts that you recommend for date night. You can also create Reels highlighting when you went on a specific type of date and Stories highlighting your favorite dates from the list. Plus, obviously, you can create a post about the actual full blog post. This applies to Facebook as well. Mix each date idea in with posts from your other blog posts or make it a series.
Repurposing personal content
Personal content is also super easy to repurpose because you can highlight specific details or moments. If you’re writing about your two-year-old’s birthday, each detail can get its own Instagram post. You can do a post highlighting the cake, a post highlighting the décor, and a post highlighting the goody bags. If you’re writing about your trip to France, talk about each meal you had or each spot you went to.
Repurposing your blog content boils down to simply taking your longer content and breaking it down into smaller pieces that make sense for social media. There are so many ways to do this, and it can save you some serious hassle as you build your social media calendar.
